The Happy Valley Strawberry Festival in Anderson

The festival takes place on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend May 29th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free, and so is parking in the area. The festivities start off at 7 a.m with a pancake breakfast hosted by Happy Valley 4-h club .

Starting at 10:00 am they will be serving the famous Strawberry Short Cake for $6.00. They will also be serving grilled Tri-Tip later in the day.

There will be lots of live entertainment. Past festivals have featured a senior dance group, the “Belles and Beaus,” and a barbershop quartet named Vintage Sounds. A magician, horse and train rides, classic cars on display and craft fair vendor booths have been among other attractions.

The festival is put on by The Happy Valley Community Foundation. Proceeds from the festival go toward next year’s festival and for funding events that enrich Happy Valley schools.

American Red Cross Crab Feed On Valentines Day

Tomorrow is the 5^th annual All-You-Can-Eat Crab Feed benefiting the local chapter of The American Red Cross. The event is being held at the Win River Casino, there will be a live auction, raffle and dancing. Should be a lot of fun.

Redding Christmas Light Parade

Saturday will be the Christmas light parade through the streets of downtown Redding. The details are in this Record Searchlight article.

The 26th annual Lighted Christmas Parade will brighten the streets of downtown Redding on Saturday.

The parade will start at 6 p.m. and end at 9 p.m.

The following streets will be closed at 5 p.m Saturday to allow for the staging of parade floats and will be reopened after the parade:

Oregon Street between Yuba Street and Eureka Way.

Butte Street between Court and Oregon streets.

Tehama Street between Court and California streets.

Shasta Street between Oregon and Market streets.

Center Street between Shasta Street and Riverside Avenue.

All of Prince Street.

All of Riverside Avenue.

California Street between Shasta Street and Riverside Avenue.

The parade will begin at California and Shasta streets and travel south on California Street, turn east on Sacramento Street, north on Pine Street and east on Yuba Street. The parade will end at East Street.

No parking is allowed on the parade route. There will be signs posted along the route for several days before the parade identifying these streets as no-parking zones.

Any vehicles parked in the parade route must be moved before 2 p.m. Saturday or they will be towed, Redding police warned.

Halloween Fun For This Weekend

I have not taken the kids to get pumpkins yet this year, so it looks like that’s what I will be doing Saturday. We usually go to one of the pumpkin patches but I am not sure which one we will go to this year. I like the Nash Ranch mainly because it is less of a drive but Hawes Farm is bigger and has more things for the kids to do. Which one do you prefer? Take our Poll.

The Spooky Lagoon which is a floating haunted house at the Redding Aquatic Center. They will have a carnival, trick or treating, a costume parade, and food vendors. Event Information Link

Bark & Wine by the lake, a benefit dinner for the Haven Humane Society will be held at the Gia Hotel in Anderson Saturday night. They will have wine tasting, hors D’ Oeuvres, the Lou White Trio and a Silent Auction. Reservations required, Event Information Link.

Redding Fireworks Show Saturday Night

Don’t forget Saturday night is the City of Redding’s Freedom Festival. The fireworks show that is normally scheduled for July 4th was postponed this year because of the fires. It will be held outside on the Redding Convention Center grounds. Admission is free and there will be venders, food and live music.
